The “GRETA” project is the continuation of the “GREEKHOT” project that has been implemented under the framework of Interreg III in the same area. The “GRETA” project aims at the development of innovative tools and services over wireless networks for accessing the Internet, emphasizing on applications and security services that create “a same environment for vacation and living”.
Other targets of the project are the development of services that will help foreign visitors during their stay in the area as well as the deployment of the required tools for undertaking effective promotional actions that will improve the attractiveness of the area and will provide additional value and opportunities to local providers. Finally, a significant target is the establishment of stable and effective relationships through the interregional cooperation and the exchange of know how between the partners.
The tools and technologies that will be exploited are marketing actions via Bluetooth and SMS messages, VoIP, web interactive TV, innovative multimedia content, informative screens, always over wireless Internet connections.
- Alerting Application for Fire Prevention & Extreme Weather Conditions
Support of early warning to citizens for fire prevention, during the days of high risk, as well as for extreme local weather conditions, in order to take proactive measures.
- Procurement & Installation of 21 Informative Screens
Installation of 21 informative screens to the majority of villages that will inform the citizens about significant announcements or emergency messages.
- Expansion of Wireless Network for Free Internet Access
The existing local wireless network for free Internet access is expanded and enhanced in order to cover almost the whole municipal area.
- Development of a New State-of-the-Art Web Platform
A new, state-of-the-art web portal for providing information to citizens, tourists as well as for the proper touristic promotion of the area has been developed and will enhance the web presence of the area.
- Production of Innovative Multimedia Content
Production of photographs, high resolution images and video of the main sights as well as virtual tours of the main points of interest.
Municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas:
The Municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas is part of the Epirus Region and was established on 2011 through the coalescence of pre-existing municipalities of Araxthos, Kompoti, Peta and Kommeno.
In the Municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas there are available a large number of marvelous landscapes with high environmental significance such as the Pournari lake, the river-side park of Neoxori, the Ambracian Bay and its lagoons, Kopraina, Araxthos river and many more.
Furthermore, important historical sites exist all over the place. Some of them are the monument to dead soldiers of Peta, the statue of Nikolaos Skoufas, the Folklore Museum Peta, the koulies (old Turkish outposts) at Kompoti, the Water Tower of Kommeno, the monument of heroes at Sykies and many more.
